These open Instagram directly in a new tab. You'll need to be logged in.
The Instagram app for Android does not include a way to permanently delete your account, regardless of your phone's brand or Android version. The option only exists on Instagram's website, so you will need a browser instead.
Open Chrome (or your preferred Android browser) and go to instagram.com. Log in if needed.
Some Android browsers show a simplified mobile version of instagram.com that buries this setting. In Chrome, tap the three-dot menu and select Desktop site to switch to the full layout, where the menu is generally easier to navigate.
Uninstalling the Instagram app from your Android device only removes the app - your account, profile and content all remain exactly as they were online. You still need to complete the steps above through a browser to actually delete the account itself.
If you are not sure you want to delete for good, deactivating is fully reversible and takes effect instantly. Compare both options in our deactivate vs. delete guide.
